RESEARCH & REFERENCES
  1. Effects of once-weekly semaglutide on appetite, energy intake, control of eating, food preference and body weight in subjects with obesity

Blundell J, Finlayson G, Axelsen M, Flint A, Gibbons C, Kvist T, Hjerpsted JB. Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism. 2017.

Research published in Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism reported less hunger and food cravings and better control of eating with semaglutide than placebo after 12 weeks in 30 participants with obesity. This small trial does not establish that every patient will experience these effects or that food noise will disappear.

  2. Weight regain and cardiometabolic effects after withdrawal of semaglutide: The STEP 1 trial extension

Wilding JPH, et al.; STEP 1 Study Group. Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism. 2022.

Research published in Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism reported weight regain after semaglutide and lifestyle intervention were withdrawn in the studied participants. These exploratory findings do not determine an individual patient’s outcome or how long that patient should receive treatment.

Evidence limits: These sources support appetite-related barriers and the potential for weight regain, not a universal diet-failure rate or a guarantee that medication resolves food noise.
