RESEARCH & REFERENCES
  1. Nutritional priorities to support GLP-1 therapy for obesity: A joint advisory from the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, the American Society for Nutrition, the Obesity Medicine Association, and the Obesity Society

Mozaffarian D, et al. Obesity Pillars. 2025.

Research published in Obesity Pillars reported a literature-based advisory on nutrition and lifestyle priorities during GLP-1 therapy. It discusses nutrient adequacy, muscle preservation and individualized care; it is not a trial of Seattle Trim Clinic. Corrections are linked from the publication record.

  2. Brief communication: Sleep curtailment in healthy young men is associated with decreased leptin levels, elevated ghrelin levels, and increased hunger and appetite

Spiegel K, Tasali E, Penev P, Van Cauter E. Annals of Internal Medicine. 2004.

Research published in Annals of Internal Medicine reported increased hunger and appetite with changes in leptin and ghrelin after short-term sleep restriction. The study involved 12 healthy young men; it does not establish the same response in all patients or a specific food-noise treatment effect.

  3. Weight regain and cardiometabolic effects after withdrawal of semaglutide: The STEP 1 trial extension

Wilding JPH, et al.; STEP 1 Study Group. Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism. 2022.

Research published in Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism reported weight regain after semaglutide and lifestyle intervention were withdrawn in the studied participants. These exploratory findings do not determine an individual patient’s outcome or how long that patient should receive treatment.

Evidence limits: Nutrition, hydration, activity and sleep needs vary. These sources are not an individualized prescription or a promise of maintaining weight loss after medication is stopped.

Educational information is general, not individualized medical advice. Prescription treatment requires evaluation by a licensed provider. Eligibility, medication choice and dosing depend on individual circumstances.
